SAGE is an organisation that platforms women in the Scottish music industry and their experiences, where living archive fuels activism.
The first project within SAGE is about the experiences of age and ageism for women in a variety of roles, from musicians, to an artist manager, tour manager, and live events professionals. Through video interviews and written reflections, SAGE centres the voices of women in the industry.
Manifesto
SAGE exists because women do not disappear from music industry at the age of 30. The industry relies of women’s labour, their knowledge, their experience – yet, at times, questions their place.
Age does not bring loss of creativity and capability.
Age brings resilience. Confidence. Experience.
SAGE centres the experiences of women aged 30 and over, in a variety of roles, and amplifies their lived experiences in the Scottish music industry.
It challenges gendered ageism and bias, and the myth that a woman’s work has a set timeline.
SAGE is for all women in the music industry. SAGE is for all women.
This is about recognition. This is about respect. This is about celebrating women at every stage of their career.
This is about changing the conversation.
